Introduction and Instructions
In an attempt to tie moral, ethical and spiritual values, from our school's ESLR's, into an
atmosphere permeated in science, students in all classes are required to lead the daily prayer.
As a result, students may better understand the similarities and differences between
spiritual and scientific philosophies.
Appropriate themes / topics were discussed between the religion and science departments and
have been selected to be completed on a quarterly basis. The themes include but are not limited
to sacraments, symbolism, social justice, faith, love, prudence, fortitude, , moral values,
salvation, charity, hope, temperance. The student is encouraged to meet with their religion
teacher to discuss a particular passage or topic discussed in class.
Each student will submit a two paragraph typed paper on 8 1/2Ó x 11Ó white paper. The first
paragraph of the assignment will include a the biblical passage and title from the bible. The length
of the first paragraph will vary. The second paragraph, students should explain how the selected
passage is associated with the of science philosophy and christian philosophy in the catholic
church. The student should explain how both philosophies work together in promoting a christian
education and how they might prepare the student for life. The length of this paragraph is
required to be a minimum of 5 complete, well thought out sentences. The student will then present
the prayer at the beginning of class the day assigned.
